Floating Match stick Trick

Any magic trick involving floating objects is a fun trick that amazes people. Card tricks are also very popular. This trick combines both a card trick and a trick that makes it look like an object is floating. Amaze your friends and family by being able to make a match (or toothpick) float on top of a normal playing card.

You will need the following items:
Clear tape
A playing card
Magician's invisible thread (or really thin fishing line that cannot be seen)
A match
Practice
Patience

Prepare your card.

Pick any playing card. You must prepare this card so you can do your magic trick. Take the thread or fishing line and tape one end of it on a corner of the face of the card. Wrap the thread around the card so it is being wrapped around it lengthwise and moving over on the card each time. Once it reaches the opposite corner, tape the thread on that corner.

Practice the trick.

Put the card in the palm of your hand, face down. Keep your hand flat. Place the match or the toothpick going the opposite way of the thread so it seems to point to the sides of the card. Wave your empty hand over the card and gently squeeze the card with the hand in which it is resting. The match or toothpick should appear to float over the card. Once you want to put the match or toothpick down, wave your empty hand over the card and quit squeezing it, making sure that that hand containing the card is flat.

Once you have mastered this trick, you are ready to perform it in front of an audience. If you are going to perform it in front of an audience, make sure that you always have your prepared card ready so you can perform the trick. Otherwise, it will not work and the match or toothpick will simply roll off of the card and no magic trick will be performed.

Perform the trick.

Make sure you have your prepared card ready. Then perform the trick for your audience. Do not let them know about the clear thread. Most of them will probably be amazed, though a few might know the trick of having clear thread wrapped around the card. However, do not let on that you can tell that others know. It will take away from those who are amazed.
